Organized by developers, for developers!
Financial Technology, nowadays better known under the term ‘fintech’, describes a business that aims at providing financial services by making use of software and modern technology.
Today, fintech companies directly compete with banks in most areas of the financial sector to sell financial services and solutions to customers.
Mostly due to regulatory reasons and their internal structures, banks still struggle to keep up with fintech startups in terms of innovation speed. FinTechs have realized early that financial services of all kinds – including money transfer, lending, investing, payments, … – need to seamlessly integrate in the lives of the tech-savvy and sophisticated customers of today to stay relevant in a world where business and private life become increasingly digitalized.
The Hackathon brings together FinTech developers and designers to develop financial products and discover new technologies. Example applications include innovations in risk management, trading, investing, personal finance, big data, retail banking, regulatory compliance, mobile payments and enterprise social.
APIs and platforms from technology partners will be made available during the Hackathon. Attendees will spend 24 hours coding, validating their ideas, networking and then demoing their hacks to a panel of VCs, executives and entrepreneurs.
Attendees can participate individually or in teams and teams can be formed prior to the Hackathon. Attendees are responsible for coming to the event with FinTech related ideas or finding a team to work with during the Hackathon. The Hackathon organizers and Technology partners may also provide teams potential challenges to work on and offer prizes to the best team.
Our hackathon is highly focused on the engineering component of your solution. Your ability to architect, design, and build your technology stack has significantly more weight than your ability to create a powerpoint pitch!
